Role Overview & Mission
We are looking for a highly skilled, hands-on Technician to ensure our fleet is always "mission-ready." At Sitegeist, our robots face the toughest conditions – dust, vibrations, and unpredictable construction environments.
You aren't just an operator; you are the frontline expert who builds, maintains, and repairs the hardware. While the engineers design the systems, you are the one who ensures they actually work in the mud. You’ll be responsible for the physical health of our robots, from the initial assembly in the workshop to emergency "pit-stops" on a construction site.
What you’ll do (Responsibilities)
- Assembly & Integration: Build and assemble robotic systems from the ground up, including mechanical structures, wiring harnesses, and sensor mounting.
- Field Readiness: Perform pre-deployment checkouts to ensure every robot leaving the shop is 100% functional.
- On-Site Maintenance: Travel to construction sites to perform preventative maintenance and urgent repairs. You are the "mechanic" for our robotic fleet.
- Hardware Debugging: Use diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, and software logs) to identify and fix electrical or mechanical failures.
- Fleet Documentation: Keep meticulous records of repairs, component failures, and hardware revisions to help the engineering team track reliability.
- Workshop Management: Maintain the tools, inventory, and spare parts needed to keep production and operations moving without delays.
What we’re looking for (Requirements)
- Technical Background: Vocational training or an Associate’s degree in Mechatronics, Electronics, Automotive Technology, or a related technical field.
- Mechanical Mastery: Proven experience with precision assembly, power tools, and reading technical drawings/schematics.
- Electrical Skills: Deep comfort with wiring, soldering, and troubleshooting PCB connections or sensor looms.
- The "McGyver" Mindset: When things go wrong on a remote site, you stay calm and find a way to get the machine back online safely.
- Mobility: Class B driver's license; Willingness to travel to various construction sites and work outdoors when necessary.
- Reliability: You take pride in "perfectionist" assembly quality—because a loose bolt in the shop becomes a failure in the field.
Bonus / Nice to Haves
- Experience with heavy machinery, CNC machines, or high-performance automotive tech.
- Basic experience with Linux or command-line interfaces to run hardware health scripts.
