Mission
Help design, build and integrate the mechanical backbone of our construction robots. From CAD and brackets to drivetrains, frames and structural parts, you'll turn concepts into real, robust hardware — and help get it running and holding up on the bench and on real construction sites. Hands-on, cross-disciplinary, and right where the robots come together.
Responsibilities & Outcomes
- Design mechanical parts and assemblies in CAD (mounts, brackets, frames, drivetrain, enclosures).
- Build and fabricate parts — 3D printing, machining, sheet metal, assembly — and iterate quickly.
- Assemble and integrate mechanical systems into working robots, making sure mechanics and electronics fit together.
- Get robots running on the bench and support field tests on real construction sites (setup, quick fixes, mechanical troubleshooting).
- Design for the real world: parts that survive loads, vibration, dust and rough site conditions.
- Feed what you learn in the field back to the engineering team.

Requirements
- Enrolled student, ideally in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on and handy — real experience designing in CAD and actually building/assembling parts (not simulation only).
- Comfortable with tools and fabrication (3D printing, machining, welding, assembly — any subset is great).
- Motivated to work on-site in real conditions (dust, weather, construction reality).
